About

Metaphors to describe the emotions and sensations that spring from our current world, community, and individual struggle with the Covid-19 crisis are abundant. But, the metaphor that has resonated the most strongly for us, in terms of the isolation and devastation of the virus, is that of being stranded alone on a desert island trying to find a way to escape, to rescue one’s self with the hope of rescuing others. Inspired by Ernest Shackleton, Concrete Temple Theatre is crafting a performance piece with puppetry, Stranded, that has a single, solo-protagonist, our stranded survivor, trying to find a way to get off a deserted island, or perhaps out of his apartment, to save a loved one back home.
